MAYOR ORDERS COMMITTEE TO EVALUATE FUTURE OF CITY HALL
Mayor orders that a “Finance Committee” be formed to “determine whether Dallas City Hall and other municipal facilities effectively support city operations and best serve the citizens of Dallas." Consider all potential options and identify the most fiscally responsible course to address the mounting deferred maintenance and carrying costs of Dallas City Hall.

CITY HALL REPAIRS ESTIMATE BALLOON TO $142M-$345M
City Council’s Finance Committee held the “State of Dallas City Hall” briefing and discussed the core options: live with existing issues, plan and fund repairs or pursue alternatives to staying in the building. CITY COUNCIL VOTES FOR A RUSHED ASSESSMENT OF CITY HALL'S FUTURE
Dallas City Council adopted Resolution 25-1784 (agenda item 63) directing the City Manager to evaluate real estate options for City Hall, obtain a third-party facilities condition assessment and explore redevelopment or economic development opportunities for the City Hall site, with findings to be reported to the Finance Committee by February 2026. The recorded vote was 12–3. Dozens of people showed to voice their support for City Hall. (Video) (Link)

EDC SIGNS AGREEMENT TO OVERSEE RUSHED REPORT ON CITY HALL REPAIRS
EDC (Economic Development Council) which cannot be considered an independent third-party, as its members are appointed by the city and its work funded by the city) signs an agreement to oversee work by AECOM to update their limited 2018 estimate. The report is due Jan. 19, giving them just over a month to complete the report. When AECOM completed the repair estimate in 2018 for City Hall, they took over 2 years. Similar assessments take a least a year to complete. (Source)
